CeylonDaththa is a directory of tourism-related listings across Sri Lanka — local experts, hotels and guesthouses, cafés, safari companies, and attractions. Every listing is added by someone who's actually been there: a local expert crediting a place they stop at along the way, a business owner listing their own guesthouse, a traveler sharing a café they liked. Nothing is scraped or auto-generated.

A lot of the best people to recommend in Sri Lanka — someone who knows a stretch of road better than anyone, a guesthouse run properly for years, a safari outfit that treats its clients right — don't have a marketing budget or a travel agency behind them. That reputation already exists, carried by word of mouth; it just doesn't live anywhere public. CeylonDaththa is a simple, free place for it to land — no listing fee, no algorithm standing between the people doing the real work on the ground and the travelers looking for them.

Anyone can sign in and add a listing — no fee, no approval queue to clear first. New listings start as Unverified, and move up to Confirmed once someone from our community of local experts has personally vouched that it's real. We're upfront that this is community input, not an official inspection — see the Terms for what the trust tiers do and don't mean, and always confirm details directly with the business or local expert before relying on them.

Some of the best people to talk to about Sri Lanka spend their working lives on its roads, or waiting at the harbor for a safari jeep to fill up. CeylonDaththa calls that whole category Local Expert, rather than boxing everyone into one label — someone can mark the specific skill that actually applies: general driving, a licensed chauffeur guide credential, a national guide license, a safari tracker's eye. That way a real, verifiable qualification stands apart from a general offer to get you somewhere, and nobody's work gets flattened into a single word that undersells it.
